VLC MEDIA PLAYER & GRABOID.

I think reviews is the best area for this as it would double as a recommendation or a warning to avoid something.

Anyway i was using my laptop to organize & rename my USB drives & i found two apps I've never seen before, one called Graboid Video & VLC media player.

Has anyone heard of either, are they good or should i delete them ??

Graboid Video is a software that was made to search the Internet for videos and compile the results for easy access. Free trial users are restricted to files that are 2,000MBs or less, non HD quality and a set amount of bandwidth. Once the free trial ends you have to start a paid subscription of $14.99 a month.
There's also a problem whith encountering malware and Virus's do to what is uploaded to watch coming from 3rd parties that may have unwanted attachments.

To protect yourself while using VLC, only use it to open trustworthy files, and keep the program updated to the most recent version.

I would definitely delete Graboid.
As for VLC i don't really know it's a free multimedia player that's safe if used with trustworthy files but there's ways for it be exploited if a malicious file is used/viewed.That's a risk with really anything on pc, so it's up to you if you want to keep it or not.

I would definitely delete Graboid.

You're not forced into paying and can end the trial whenever you want.The free trial also ends when the 2GB of bandwidth is used up.The application in general seems pointless it's just a video search engine that takes video links(porn not included) from the enternet and puts the most popular and/or newest ones on their servers for people to access easier.More and more videos are also being DMCA'd so there's no guarantee that a video will even remain accessible.The only up side is a lesser chance of getting a virus or malware.Which with the proper precautions and a good anti-virus shouldn't be a problem either.

All of that can be done for free on pretty much any search engine.Yea it might take a little longer but why pay for what you can do yourself.

Graboid is also the names for the sandworms in the Tremors movies.Just a funny little tidbit i wanted to add.

VLC is safe, I have been using that along with my k-lite codec set forever,
with k-lite you get the MPEG movie player which is freakin awesome as it plays damn near every format invented..

Yea i agree after reading the description of its functions it seemed pointless.
I deleted that thing.

I do my downloading through the PS3 or PSP & neither has to deal with viruses etc.
And VLC the thought of some hacker blah blah, yeah that was gone too lol.

The only problem it has is the offers, which you can so decline, it has no bugs and other crap,
but for your needs, VLC would be a great option.
