I remember them learning and adapting but when have they been able to genetically modify themselves. Unless this is a whole new breed of predators.

I never seen them do that.
The Predator lore i guess is open to the possibility but for characters types like this i'm not excited about the idea.
It doesn't fit the established lore of the species priding itself as warriors who learns to adapt & become better hunters.

Genetically upgrading themselves is more of the Alien Xenomorph XX121 thing by design, not the Predators.
