CYBERPUNK 2077

E3 2018 Cinematic Trailer Revealed

Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED’s sci-fi RPG follow-up to the unbelievable Witcher trilogy, has arrived. A brand new in-engine trailer from Cyberpunk 2077 capped off Microsoft’s lengthy E3 2018 press conference, leaving viewers feeling like they were ready for more. And that’s no joke, the teaser trailer is less than two minutes long and no release date or platform information was provided. But just a tease is just enough. Cyberpunk 2077 is here, and more info is coming soon.

What information is available for Cyberpunk 2077 comes directly from the teaser trailer. The voiceover, which could be the game’s protagonist, describes the city in which Cyberpunk 2077 takes place — Night City. He describes it as “The Worst Place to Live in America” due to its extreme poverty and high rates of violence. He also calls it the “City of Dreams,” saying how he’s a big dreamer. In other words, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a very, very wild ride.

And beyond the voiceover, CD Projekt Red packs as much as it can into the 90 seconds of screentime. Over a dozen different scenes are shown, all made up of in-engine cinematic work and no gameplay. What must be over 100 characters are included across all of the scenes, ranging from taxi drivers to cyber-junkies. And every single one of them sings “Cyberpunk” loud and clear. Night City is big, and the brief look into Cyberpunk 2077 sends one clear message — we haven’t seen anything yet.

Sometimes there’s more than meets the eye in CD Projekt RED’s trailers, however. Much like with the first Cyberpunk 2077 trailer, there’s a hidden message from CD Projekt RED hidden within the garbled digital fuzz at the start of the trailer. The full message is a very heartful letter written to the fans within CD Projekt RED’s community, but there’s some important info in there too.

The big message is that CD Projekt RED isn’t ready to reveal when it will launch Cyberpunk 2077. It’s just not ready for that yet. That said, the game is already huge — and growing every day. Most importantly though, CD Projekt RED wants to make clear that despite the rumors, despite the guns and adrenaline of the trailer, Cyberpunk 2077 remains a “true single-player, story-driven RPG.” Fans of The Witcher 3 won’t be disappointed. They just have to be patient.

CD Projekt RED isn’t done showing Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2018. The developer and publisher has already confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 would also have a behind-closed-doors demo to show the press once the convention begins. Previews will start being published by Tuesday, June 12. And if CD Projekt RED does what it has traditionally done with The Witcher titles, it will reveal that demo to fans later this year.

Cyberpunk 2077 has no currently announced release window or platforms.

LONDON — Sony has removed the video game Cyberpunk 2077 from its PlayStation Store in a move that has shocked industry analysts and added to the woes of its developer.

The Japanese company’s gaming unit, Sony Interactive Entertainment, said in a brief statement that it “strives to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction” and would offer players full refunds for digital copies of the game.

Shares of Cyberpunk’s Polish developer, CD Projekt, tumbled as much as 20% Friday on the news before later paring losses slightly. The company has lost around $1.4 billion in market value since the game’s release on Dec. 10. Analysts say it’s highly rare for a console to remove a AAA game over quality issues.

Since its launch, Cyberpunk has attracted scathing criticism from gamers over a multitude of bugs and drops in performance on older consoles like Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One. Reviewers said they were only able to play it on PC ahead of launch, not consoles.

The sci-fi game was one of the most highly anticipated titles of 2020, fueled by significant hype at industry events and past success from its developer. CD Projekt is the same studio behind role-playing game The Witcher 3, which some critics say is one of the best games of all time.

But Cyberpunk’s steep graphics requirements mean that the game has suffered on older hardware. People playing the game on PS4 and Xbox One have found it often freezes, while textures take a while to load in, and nonplayable characters’ faces are sometimes blurred.

“It’s not an easy call, but they have made the right move,” Steve Bailey, principal analyst for games at tech research firm Omdia, told CNBC. “This title has been removed out of fear of not just consumer upset with a game’s quality, but potential damage to the console brand.”

On Monday, CD Projekt said it will offer customers refunds if they bought the game on older consoles and were unhappy with it. The firm also apologized for not showing how the game performed on those machines before releasing it, and said it would issue updates over the next few months.

Sony was hit with criticism after previously rejecting people’s requests for refunds of digital copies of the game. The PR gaffe has now resulted in Sony offering full refunds to players who bought the game digitally.

Video games are the red hot item this holiday season
Still, Bailey said he doesn’t think the episode will damage CD Projekt’s relationship with Sony.

“PlayStation will be extremely sympathetic towards the challenges of making and releasing a game like Cyberpunk 2077, which is a boggling undertaking. But they may require that they get to work more closely with CDPR in future,” he said.

CD Projekt said in a statement Friday that it’s “working hard to bring Cyberpunk 2077 back to PlayStation Store as soon as possible.”

“Following our discussion with PlayStation, a decision was made to temporarily suspend digital distribution of Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation Store,” the company said.

“You can still buy physical versions of the game in brick and mortar stores and online. All purchases digital and physical copies of the game will continue to receive support and updates as we continue to improve your experience.”

Analysts say it’s possible Microsoft could follow suit. However, the company told Reuters that it’s “not in such discussions with Microsoft at the moment.”

CD Projekt had pushed Cyberpunk’s release back several times before finally launching the game. It was initially scheduled to be released on April 16, before being delayed to Sept. 17, then Nov. 19, and finally Dec. 10. It received much hype until launch, with some fans drawing comparisons to the open-world crime game Grand Theft Auto 5.

Following its release, the game was met with outcry over a spate of technical glitches. It was also criticized for a scene that included a trigger for people with epilepsy. CD Projekt subsequently patched the game to reduce the risk of inducing epileptic symptoms.

I pre-ordered a physical ps4 copy back in june and it has crashed 6 times since release.Pop-ins rather bad and frame rate drops in crowded areas or action intensive scenarios. Other than that the games playable and is incredibly fun,but not everyone is having the same outcome.
I've seen videos on youtube of how bad it can be so i understand why its been removed and hope that CPR can fix cyberpunk.

They should do a re-release of the game once it's fixed including reprints of the physical copies as well as allowing people to trade in their pre-order copies for the
new one that has the fixes. They'll probably just patch it and leave it at that though.

I remember when publishers used to allow trading old copies of games for new patched versions.Good example of this is when the launch day versions of WWF No Mercy on n64 had a glitch that would delete you save file at random. So when a cartridge that fixed the glitch was released players were allowed to trade their old glitched copies for the new patched one via mail. With an accompanying $25 if i remember correctly.

It was being developed for 9 years and was marketed for base ps4 and Xbox one and what we got was a lie being sold for $60 after multiple delays.

Here's a news headline
Even Cyberpunk 2077's developers are confronting management about its launch.

They just put out a new patch today that fix's some stuff and another patch is coming.

I don't wanna hear people say your playing on a 7 year old console what did you expect.

Umm a working game that doesn't drop to below 15 frames a second or have textures pop in and out. Look at games like red dead redemption 2 or ghost of Tsushima or the size of GTA5.

I'm not looking for 4K 60FPS or 1080p 120hrz I just want a game that runs smoothly with out crashes.

I may have planned for a copy of this, digital ver was take out stores but Sony.
Ireading news about refunds n shit.
Yea, what do people expected, tremendousness, u can only expect decent enough.
This is how I feel in general, a title is compared between it's ps5 ver and PS4 ver, yea ps5 shows more intensity of performance, but what's wrong with 8th gen, not a damn thing, I ain't hyped for better.

Miles Morales, PS4, version runs well, even loads fast too...

CD Projekt Red's Alvin Liu reassures that Cyberpunk 2077's "very custom engine" makes optimisation easy, regardless of platform. "We’re targeting consoles as first class platforms and it looks amazing there," says Liu.

It's probably because at the time I only liked the movies and never gave a thought about the alien games.

When ever I hear Randy Bitchford sorry I mean Randy Pitchford I know the story is gonna be a good one he's a slime ball from theft of millions to assault.

Unfortunately it's seems common for games or presentations to show one thing then have something completely different on release.

Like Borderlands under went a major change from the first trailer to it's final release
In my opinion a good way .

Oh yea I've seen a few games from 200Blah to 2020 with more games where the studios show great gameplay then the final product either looks like crap or downgraded in some way.
