UPDATED APPS TO WATCH TELEVISION?

Is it necessary to update apps on an LGTV or any smart TV just to watch television?
I'm asking is connecting a smart tv to the internet & updating the apps really something that has to be done or can I simply just not connect the smart TV to internet altogether & just watch cable TV.

No you can just plug a DVD or Blu-ray player in or a console or a antenna if it has the right plugs. I have a VIZO smart TV that I never have connected to the wifi and works fine.

I would just Google the model just to be sure I don't believe smart TV are at the point where it's required to have it connected to the internet.

My mother own Samsung smart TV, but it's running on wifi for app use. We like using "Tubi" free shows and movies, although it don't have everything up to date.

You can just watch without updating unless it calls for an important update,
then of course its up to you.

See someone was arguing with me yesterday that the LGTV my mom has had to have the apps updated otherwise the TV systems will crash & it'll be nothing more than a piece of plastic with glass.
