I just got a laptop in the mail yesterday from a friend.....WOOHOO!
I've never had a laptop, never had a PC, but i've used a friend's PC & PCs at my library.
And i'm more of a PS3/PSP browser so browsing on a laptop is a difference experience for me.
CAUSE the PS3/PSP browser really spoiled me as i forgotten about pop ups & how bad they can be.
Not only that but Malware, Viruses & Adware.
I ran into this crap a few minutes ago!
I'm aware the 1-800 number calls are fake, but i didn't realise they have Microsoft windows virus alert pop ups too.
And I called!
DO NOT CALL THE 1-800 number!
Freaking out i called the 1-800 number on my screen as i could not back out or close any windows & i saw this.
DO NOT CALL THE 1-800 number!
It's not that number but i called the 1-800 number on my screen & spoken with the tech guy.
And before i gave him any info i said wait a sec i wanna try something 1st & i hung up.
The site i went to was a download site, openload.
I went to openload lots of times on my PS3/PSP, but the PS3, PSP, stops any pop ups or site redirects.
See he did ask for my information so he could connect & that alone scared me, that's when i thought of Youtube.
DO NOT CALL THE 1-800 number!
I have other devices i can access the internet with, so lets see if i can find a solution there & sure enough i read how that's a scam, the same scam just with pop ups.
I read how to solve the problem.
I shutdown everything, turned off my laptop then turned it back on & everything worked.
I recommend trying using a different device & look on Youtube, online, or call Microsoft directly.

' Wrote:This error message states that malicious content has been detected and, therefore, personal information (logins, passwords, banking details, etc.) is at risk. It is also stated that the malware must be eliminated immediately by contacting 'certified technicians' via the telephone number ("0-800-046-5729") provided. Victims are then supposedly guided through the removal process. Be aware, however, that this error message is a scam. Criminals attempt to trick victims into calling and paying for services that are not required. Therefore, never attempt to call the aforementioned telephone number. You can remove this error simply by closing the web browser. Note that the malicious website displays a full screen pop-up when attempts are made to close the browser - this can only be closed via Windows Task Manager. PUPs employ a "virtual layer" to generate coupon, banner, pop-up, and other similar ads. "The virtual layer" enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. The displayed ads often conceal underlying content of visited websites. Furthermore, some lead to malicious websites. Therefore, clicking them can result in further computer infections. Another downside is information tracking - PUPs gather Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, Internet service providers (ISPs), geo-locations, URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, mouse/keyboard activity, and other similar data that might be personally identifiable. This information is shared with third parties who misuse personal details to generate revenue. Thus, data tracking can result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft. All potentially unwanted programs must be uninstalled immediately.
I recommend trying using a different device & look on Youtube, online, or call Microsoft directly.
