Horizon: Forbidden West Continues Aloy's Journey On PS5
During Sony's highly anticipated PlayStation 5 reveal event, Guerrilla Games shows off Horizon: Forbidden West, the latest entry in its hit franchise.

It's been a long time coming but Sony PlayStation fans finally got many of the answers they were waiting for at the PS5 was finally unveiled in full. As part of its reveal event, Sony also had numerous studios in attendance, some first party and some third party partners. One such studio was Guerrilla Games who, after numerous teases, rumors, and leaks, finally revealed its PlayStation 5 title, Horizon: Forbidden West.

As part of the reveal, a new cinematic trailed showed where Aloy is going in her next adventure. The Horizon: Forbidden West footage begins with a look at the world and how it has changed since the events of the first game. It starts hopeful showing new life, though things start to turn for the worse with a large storm brewing in the background as well as shots of familiar places from the first game. Lance Reddick's character Sylens is also shown with what appears to be a new tribe subduing machines to some end.

It wouldn't be a Horizon game without machine animals and the trailer shows off plenty of them including new corrupted machines as well. Players see new flying like creatures reminiscent of pterodactyls, there's hulking machines that look like woolly mammoths, underwater creatures, and ridable mounts as well. It'll be interesting to see how the machine life and wildlife continues to interact with one another in this changing world.

Through the trailer, Aloy continues to mention a quest she's on to stop some sort of event from happening, threatening to undo all of the good that has been done. One scene in particular shows tribal farmers pulling up vegetables that have been turned to ash. In the background looms massive storm clouds, red lightning, and a forming tornado.

To support that quest, Guerrilla Games has given Aloy a few more tools to play with based on a few hints in the cinematic. Players see Aloy climbing tall peaks, perhaps confirming the speculation that Guerrilla has looked to other games and have given players a bit more freedom in how they move through the world. In addition, Aloy is shown swimming under the water using a breathing device and coming up to a sunken temple. Naturally, numerous Snapmaw machines can be seen swimming nearby.

Horizon: Forbidden West is in development for the PlayStation 5.
